Scripture Memorization Challenge: Resting in Him (Week 41)
This week’s Scripture is Exodus 33:14 (KJV):
And he said, My presence shall go [with thee], and I will give thee rest.
In the earlier part of Exodus 33, Moses was talking to the Lord and the Lord told him that He had found favor in His sight. Moses then began asking the Lord that to show him His ways so that He may know the Lord more and continue to find favor in His sight. And then the Lord replied with the verse above (Exodus 33:14) telling Moses that His presence would go with him and He would give Moses rest.
The Strongs Exhaustive Concordance tells us that “rest” in this verse in the Greek is:
nûwach, noo’-akh; a primitive root; to rest, i.e. settle down; used in a great variety of applications, literal and figurative, intransitive, transitive and causative (to dwell, stay, let fall, place, let alone, withdraw, give comfort, etc.):—cease, be confederate, lay, let down, (be) quiet, remain, (cause to, be at, give, have, make to) rest, set down.
Wow! Reading this definition blesses me to the core! This gives us a pretty clear indication of the wonderful rest that God will grant to His children, if we simply trust and obey. Are you feeling like you need to hear the Lord’s voice and would give anything to rest in His presence? If so, I encourage you to ask the Lord for His favor today and listen closely to His reply by staying immersed in both the reading of His Word and prayer. I promise you this: God will not let you down, as a matter of fact, He will give you what you seek!
Commit this verse to memory.
Ask the Lord today for His favor and the ability to enter into His rest. Pray for others who are weary that they also be granted the favor of the Lord and the ability to rest.
Make it a point to write this verse down on paper, post-it notes, mirrors, or any other place that you will see it. This is a great tool for memorization!
