Coconut oil sugar scrub has become a huge favorite in our house over the past several years. I remember the very first time I tried this amazing concoction was shortly after the birth of my first child nearly 15 years ago. It literally rocked my world - and my skin! One of my good friends made it for me as a gift for birthing our beautiful daughter and I was instantly hooked. This beautiful, all-natural scrub, left my skin feeling soft and hydrated. Today I want to share with you a new and improved recipe for your skin. While coconut oil sugar scrub alone is awesome, how about we add Continue Reading...This post may contain affiliate links. I love the beginning of a new school year. I revel in the planning, new school books, sharpened pencils, notebooks filled with lined paper, book shelves neatly organized, and a fresh new school calendar ready for the year ahead. The newness of it all reminds me of how I feel at the dawn of a brand new calendar year. However, the one thing I never feel quite prepared for is physical education. P.E. Our classroom setting often changes from day to day, taking us on wild and active adventures, providing opportunities for Continue Reading...This post may contain affiliate links. Many of you have heard about the popular new book Trim Healthy Mama. And if you haven't, I am excited to introduce it to you today. I had to find out what all the fuss was about for myself, and I am glad I did. The authors graciously offered me a free copy for review and one to give away to my precious readers (that'd be YOU). Okay, let's get on with it. 3 Reasons Not to Read Trim Healthy Mama 1. You are not interested in improving your health. Let's face it, everyone who has made it into adulthood understands that if we are not intentional about having good health, then we won't have it. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NKJV) It doesn’t make sense. I hardly ever eat. And yet, I’m gaining weight. Granted, when I do eat, it’s not always healthy food that I’m sticking in my face. But calories are calories, right? It would make sense to me that if I’m not eating a lot of food, I shouldn’t be gaining weight. So why isn’t it working that way? I attended a Continue Reading...This post may contain affiliate links. The word "diet" has become synonymous with torture. Deprivation. Punishment. We go on a diet, try fad diets, and ultimately blow our diets. It doesn't have to be this way. On a rudimentary level, our diet is simply what we eat. Whatever you eat on any random day of the week is your diet. Your diet may be sort of healthy, or nothing that could remotely pass for healthy. Regardless, if you consume food (and I would imagine that you do) you are "on a diet". Nutrition is about 50% of the healthy-diet-and-exercise touted as being necessary for achieving and maintaining a healthy weight. (That's Continue Reading...This post may contain affiliate links. It's creeping up on us again, isn't it? There are just a few little squares left on the calendar, counting down to that morning when we toss out that calendar marked with the birthdays, doctor's appointments, dance recitals, and baseball games from the past twelve months, and move on to one containing fresh, blank pages. Unadulterated squares, holding the promise of busy and overwhelming, memory-making days to come. This is generally the time when we look over those calendar pages and figure out when we're going to fit in those things that are important to us. Will we travel to visit family Continue Reading...This post may contain affiliate links. See my full disclosure policy.
This morning was my long run. I say that as if I always go on a long run on Saturday mornings, which is entirely not true. The plan had been to meet some girlfriends for a run downtown. See, we're running in a relay together in a few weeks, and we were going to run the course together. But when I turned on my alarm for 0500, I neglect to remember that the 0500 setting is for Monday through Friday only (iPhone problems), and I didn't wake up until minutes before I was supposed to meet the girls. Still, I managed a long run. Okay, for me, 4.5 miles is a long run. The route I take is a very Continue Reading...This post may contain affiliate links. See my full disclosure policy.
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me,but not all things edify. Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being. 1 Corinthians 10:32 (NKJV) It was our first science fair project. My 5th grader, being definitely my child, decided to do his science project on ice cream. We tested four different brands of ice cream to determine which would melt the quickest at room temperature. Once we figured out which brand melted the quickest, we started looking at the ingredients of each. Most of the ingredients were pretty basic: milk, Continue Reading...This post may contain affiliate links. See my full disclosure policy.
