Scripture memorization is near and dear to my heart. When I first gave my life to Christ in the fall of 1998, one of the first things He spoke to me about was becoming familiar with His word through prayer, Bible study, Scripture confession, and Scripture memorization. Of course going to church and listening to great teachers of the Bible are wonderful, but it is really what we do on our own time the rest of the week that makes or breaks our Christian walk. Since I am an avid reader and adore learning and studying things in depth, this was a dream come true for me. I can study to my heart’s content, but the amazing part is that I will never know it all! Praise God! That is music to a true wisdom seeker’s ears.
I have made it my business over the past 18+ years to learn God’s Word so I can do my very best to obey it. My husband and I have also raised our children with the same understanding so their hearts can be made full of God’s Word as well. As a matter of fact, we wrote a book together aimed at helping other families do the same: Learning to Speak Life: Fruit of the Spirit Bible Study Guide. It is amazing to see how God speaks to our children and how they begin to recognize His voice because they know His Word! Hallelujah!
Scripture Memorization Challenge Theme
The main theme for our 52-week scripture memorization challenge will be matters of the heart. While that will be our overall focus for the year-long challenge, we will be having 12 different specific focuses within the scope of the yearly theme. Be sure to sign up for weekly challenge email to get the weekly challenge delivered straight into your inbox each week!
Why Matters of the Heart?
God has been ministering to me for a while about the tenderness of a woman’s heart. He has been showing me how important it is to balance the tenderness that He has given us with strong biblical character. And as we know, this character we seek can only be found in His Word and by His Spirit. So when God revealed to me the theme for this year, He was very clear that if we are willing to allow Him to work on our hearts and expose things that are not pleasing to Him, He will fill those desolate places with His love, mercy, and grace! Hallelujah!
What Can I Expect from This Challenge?
Topical themes that pertain to Christian women along with:
- weekly Scripture (KJV to be used for this challenge) to memorize within the monthly theme

- weekly challenges to help us memorize the Scripture
- weekly applications of the Scripture we are working with

How Do I Know What’s Next?
Below I will list the topic and links for each week. To be sure you don’t miss a single update, please be sure to subscribe to our email list and I will send you out a weekly email reminder to come back for the weekly challenge!
What If I Can’t Keep Up?
Don’t even worry about that. Just go at the pace that your life allows you to. As long as you are trying, you are walking in victory! Know that God sees your heart and He is proud of you, and so am I!
What If I Want to Memorize More Than One Scripture a Week?
I realize that we all learn and do life at a different pace. If you want to memorize more than one Scripture a week, I’d encourage you to seek God out on your own for additional Scriptures to memorize that pertain to you personally in the current season of life you are walking out.
